What we welcome

We are interested in clear explainers, document-reading guides, comparisons that define their limits and carefully framed accounts of how county arrangements fit together. A strong contribution gives readers a useful way to understand a topic without assuming every place follows the same pattern.

A good pitch

Send a concise summary of the question, why it matters to a general reader, the main points you would explain and the material you would consult. Mention relevant experience only where it helps us assess the proposal; do not include confidential information or claim access you cannot share.

Tone and boundaries

Use plain English, separate established facts from interpretation and make local variation visible. We do not seek submissions that give legal, financial or other professional advice, or that depend on unsafe instructions. Review and editing

We may ask questions, request revisions or decline a proposal. Any accepted work is edited for accuracy, clarity and fit with the publication. Sending a pitch does not guarantee a reply or publication.
